Tropical Chia Mango Smoothie

The tropical chia mango smoothie was developed for numerous reasons.  I am not a winter gal and January seems to be lingering forever. In addition the cold weather sometimes gives me the blues. A healthy exotic drink was definitely needed.  Tropical Chia Mango Smoothie take me away!  That saying was in reference to an old commercial that appeared on television years ago for a soap product called Calgon.  The character in the Calgon commercial was overly stressed and needed to get away with a soothing bath then she would say, “Calgon take me away.”

What’s better than a mango smoothie with kiwi, bananas and pineapple to set the mood for an exotic island. Since I can’t get away the tropical chia mango smoothie will have to fit the bill.  This smoothie is a spirit lifter with the fruit, honey, almond milk, and chia seeds providing a highly nutritious drink. Furthermore they are simple to make.

Chia seeds when added to a liquid becomes a gelatin-like substance but with seeds.  I did some experimenting with the chia seeds in this smoothie.  I was interested in how the chia seeds would affect the taste of the smoothie.  There are three smoothies pictured above in the featured photo.

The one nearest the front contains no chia seeds. It’s has a fruity creamy taste that is pure magic in a glass.  The center smoothie in the narrow neck jar has chia seeds which were added to the tropical mango smoothie and stirred.  Chia seeds add texture to the smoothie.  Lending to a chunky consistency in your mouth.  The last smoothie to the left also has chia seeds, however, the drink was blended longer to get a smoother consistency.  The texture of the drink is more consistent with a smoothie. As a result it goes down your throat very easily.

My favorite was the chia seeds that were added to the tropical chia mango smoothie and stirred.  If you close your eyes you can almost hear the sounds of gentle waves on the beach. This smoothie has a way of making you feel like summer fun on the beach.   The chia seeds in the smoothie have a playfulness to them.  They feel like little bubbles moving around in your mouth.

Not only does this smoothie taste delicious and have a tropical taste which provides you with energy but it has plenty of healthy properties.  The chia seeds that are in the smoothie are one of those modern day superfoods. There are certain blood markers that chia seeds are associated with; such as lowering blood presser, reducing your risk of diabetes, and lowering the risk of heart attack and stroke.   Chia seeds can be sprinkled on foods, added to foods and put in drinks to boost the health potential of the food or drink.
