Chocolate Nutty Toffee

A hard but chewy caramel colored candy, with chocolate and nuts added. A simple recipe with one big delicious taste.
Ingredients
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 stick butter
  • 6 ounces semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • ¼ cup chopped pecan (nuts of your choice)
Instructions
  1. In 2-qt. saucepan combine sugar and butter.
  2. Cook over low heat, stirring occasionally until candy thermometer reaches 300 degrees.
  3. Spread on a baking sheet (15x10x1") which has been lined with parchment paper.
  4. Sprinkle chocolate chips over hot candy; let stand 5 minutes.
  5. Spread melted chocolate evenly over candy; sprinkle with nuts.
  6. Cool completely.
  7. Break into pieces.
