Easy Pan Seared Scallops

I love the taste of a good sea scallop.  When cooked correctly, they can be sweet, tender and juicy.  Searing scallops at home can seem intimidating. At one time I thought you could only get scallops in a restaurant.  Needless to say, that was the furthest from the truth.  Easy Pan Seared Scallops are simple and quick to prepare right in your own home.

Easy Pan Seared Scallops, are those sweet succulent mollusks that can be prepared easily and quickly with a few ingredients found in your kitchen.  Salt and pepper are all that’s needed to season the scallops.  Next in a large skillet heat two tablespoons of vegetable oil over medium-high heat.  Add the scallops and sear, turning once halfway through cooking, until opaque, 4 to 6 minutes.

Scallops can always be enhanced by adding a delectable sauce, a squeeze of lemon or garnish with fresh herbs, which deliveries a brightness to the dish.  Add a vegetable and a baked potato and you can sit down to a luxurious dining experience.

A very simple recipe for such an elegant meal.  Serve it to your friends, make it for date night or add it to the family’s meal rotation it’s sure to be a hit.

Easy Pan Seared Scallops

Not an ounce of flavor is lost when searing these scallops. Plenty of intense flavors can be found in every bite making this a very delectable dish for guest or weekly meal.

Ingredients
  • 10 fresh or frozen sea scallops
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • ¾ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
Glaze
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon parsley, minced
  • 3 sprigs of parsley for garnish (optional)
Instructions
  1. Rinse the scallops and pat dry.
  2. Heat the vegetable oil in a skillet over medium-high heat until hot.
  3. Sprinkle the scallops with salt and pepper. Add scallops to the skillet, and don't crowd the pan.
  4. Sear on one side until golden brown about 3 to 4 minutes; turn and sear for another 2 minutes until golden brown. Remove from skillet and set aside.
Glaze
  1. Melt butter in the skillet. Add lemon juice, paprika, garlic, and minced parsley to the skillet. Now, mix the ingredients together. Heat the glaze until warm. Add the scallops back to the skillet with the glaze and saute for another 2 minutes. Serve the Easy Pan Seared Scallops immediately. Enjoy!
