Pink Wreath for Breast Cancer Awareness

Guess What! I have a really simple way to show your home’s support for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. You can show your support by making a pretty pink wreath for the front door.   You don’t need to be crafty to make this wreath.

There was no certain direction I was going in making this wreath. I just knew that I wanted a wreath to help me celebrate Breast Cancer Awareness for the month of October.

I knew I would need a wreath so when I saw this white wreath in my local craft store I thought it would be the perfect one.  Pink and white would be the color scheme for the wreath.

I used the wreath and one pink and white boa for this project.  Weave the boa thru out the wreath while twisting two of the branches together to hold the boa feathers in place.

Supplies:

large pink Breast Cancer Awareness Magnet Ribbon

22-inch deco-mesh wreath

6 foot pink and white feathered boa

1 – small bottle white paint

5 – 3 1/2 inch ht letters

1 – 8x3x24 thin wooden strip

tube E6000 glue

small bottle hot pink paint

floral wire

small brush

You could literally display the wreath just like this and it would be a beautiful way to recognize Breast Cancer Awareness month. In the case of the boa less is more. It would make a lovely addition to any door.

I was feeling a bit more inspired so I felt the need to add a word of encouragement to my wreath.  Not in the traditional sense by having a word going across the wreath but doing something different that would stand out. I decided to add a word in vertical form. I added HOPE to the wreath both literally and physically.

Steps For Making The Wreath:

There are a few extra supplies needed to take the breast cancer wreath to the next level.  Add a positive word to the wreath.

To add the lettering to the wreath the supplies that are needed are the: wooden strip, letters, 2 bottles of paint, small paint brush, tape, hammer, awl, and floral wire to attach the wooden strip to the wreath

a.  At the top of the wooden strip with a pencil or chalk mark where the small opening should be placed.

b. Before drilling a hole in the wooden strip. Place a small piece of tape over the wood where the whole is to be made, this is to prevent the wood from splitting.

Use the awl and hammer to make a small hole in the strip of wood.

c.  Paint the wooden strip and the letters, allow them to dry.

d.  Position the letters on the wooden strip, then glue in place.  Allow the letter to dry.

e.  Attach the wooden strip to the wreath.

f.  Glue the breast cancer magnet to the wooden strip and allow to dry completely before hanging it on the door.

It fills me with so much joy to be able to display this beautiful wreath on my door.

I wanted to create a symbol of beauty and hope that epitomizes everything that Breast Cancer Awareness month stands for.
