Strawberry Sundae Toffee Brownie Trifle

What Is the Best Part of The Meal?

If you ask the average person what is their favorite part of the meal, most people would probably tell you it’s dessert. However, with that being said there are those who prefer to eat their dessert as the first course of the meal.  Clearly, once you first lay eyes on this dessert, most would be inclined to agree to eat this Strawberry Sundae Toffee Brownie Trifle as the first course of the meal.

Do you want to be the star of the show? Sure, you do!  Make this Strawberry Sundae Toffee Brownie Trifle for your next family event.  Plus, everyone will ooh and aah over how grand this dessert looks!  Clearly, this will be the most requested dessert at every family event.

What Are the Ingredients Needed to Make the Strawberry Sundae Toffee Brownie Trifle?

The trifle is really simple to make.  Mainly, all you’ll need for this dessert are brownies, toffee bits, whipped topping, chocolate syrup, caramel syrup, candied cherries for garnish, and frozen sliced strawberries with sugar (thawed).  Next, take the liquid from the strawberries to make a glaze that is to be used throughout the trifle.  Meanwhile, add sugar and red food coloring to enhance the thickness and depth of color for the glaze.  Due to a thicker glaze, it eliminates a soggy brownie but still supplies a moist structure for the trifle.

However, if it’s strawberry season you could totally use fresh strawberries.  It’s just a matter of personal preference on what you choose to use.

The Day Before the Event?

The most difficult part of this dessert is making the brownies.  The brownies could be purchased from your local grocer or bakery (which can be a bit pricey), they can be made from scratch or a box mix.  The box mix works for me. In addition, the brownies and the glaze can be made the day before to save time during preparation.  I prefer assembling the trifle on the day of the event to prevent the dessert from becoming soggy.

Two 13×9-inch rectangle baking pans of brownies were used to make this dessert.  If you need a smaller dessert one box of brownie mix should be enough.  Just follow the package directions to prepare.  Once the brownies cool cut them into 1-inch squares to be used in the recipe for the dessert.

How to Assemble the Strawberry Sundae Toffee Brownie Trifle?

The Strawberry Sundae Toffee Brownie Trifle comes together really quickly.  First, start with a clear bowl to allow the dessert to shine.

A trifle can be any size you like.  Therefore, for that reason, you just want to be able to see those beautiful layers.  The dish I used was a large trifle bowl.  Trifle bowls come in various sizes.  However, if you have a nice bowl with high sides and it’s see-through, then that can be used for the dessert.

  1. Start with a layer of brownie squares as the base in the bowl.
  2. Next, top with a layer of sliced strawberries; drizzle with strawberry glaze.  Then give a couple of squeezes of chocolate and caramel syrup.  Secondly, sprinkle a layer of toffee bits over the mixture.  Thirdly, add a large dollop of whipped topping over the first layer.
  3. Immediately repeat the layers of brownies, glaze, chocolate syrup. caramel syrup, toffee bits, and whipped topping until the bowl is filled.
  4. Finally, pipe the remaining whipped topping into a decorating bag with a decorating tip embellishing the trifle top, and garnish with candied cherries, toffee bits, and small brownie pieces.

Get plenty of pics before your friends and family see this dessert.  They will think you worked all day creating this beautiful dessert.  Not only does it taste good, it looks stunning.  The Strawberry Sundae Toffee Brownie Trifle feds a large crowd, however, watch out for those dessert lovers coming back for seconds and thirds.  You’ll want to make sure everyone has an opportunity to taste this strawberry brownie keepsake.  If you like strawberries check out the Fresh Glazed Strawberry Pie and let me know what you think, I would love to hear from you.  Leave a comment below.
